Our Philosophy

Growing and maintaining garden trees is an art that has been practiced for thousands of years. Fine pruning is a vital part of maintaining an ornamental tree and takes precision, time, and skill. In Japan, Japanese Maples hold a special place in gardens and accordingly receive a special level of care.  We prune Japanese Maples to emulate that more traditional Garden Tree form (called Niwaki). Pruning uncovers and highlights the plant’s natural beauty and encourages healthier growth.

Why you should get your Maple professionally pruned

Requires specialized skills

Many maintenance landscapers will not touch Japanese Maples due to their complexity, or worse they will simply give the tree a quick trim with hedge trimmers that damages the tree’s natural growth and can become very unhealthy longterm.

Maintaining an Investment

Japanese Maples can equate to a significant monetary investment on your property. Older, more mature specimens can easily be valued in the thousands of dollars. Proper, consistent pruning helps to maintain and grow that investment.

Achieving Health and Beauty

An overgrown Japanese Maple is both unsightly and unhealthy. When properly pruned, they are light and airy, allowing sunlight and oxygen to reach into the core of the tree and revealing the elegant natural structure of the trunk.

“So, I just saw the maple at church! I almost cried I was so happy to see the tree look like the way I have always wanted it to but did not have the time or skill to do. Great work and thanks for doing that. Anytime you want to please feel free to work on it or any other tree for that matter.”
